Jen’s December Recap: The Holiday Hustle and Bustle at Alpine Fit

As we inch closer to the holidays, there’s an unmistakable buzz in the air at Alpine Fit. Since our last update in mid-October, it’s been a whirlwind of activity, adventure, and a few cups of hot cocoa and coffee to keep us going, plus refreshments shared with our amazing community. Let’s dive into everything that’s been keeping us on our toes this season.

We’re thrilled to share that the Katabatic Merino Wool Base Layer Bottoms have been restocked! These have quickly become a fan-favorite, and we’ve been busy making more to meet demand. Additionally, we’re launching an exciting new product that’s so fresh, it’s barely made it online! Stay tuned—it’ll be available soon!

Adventures and Community Connections

October closed out with a memorable family trip to Sedona—red rocks, sunshine, and a perfect dose of inspiration for some desert inspired artwork and styles. Back in Alaska, winter biking has been our adventure of choice. From snow-covered trails to ice-crusted paths, we’ve embraced the season with gusto (and lots of layers for all the different temps!).

I got a chance to see the whale that washed up on the coastal sand flats near Anchorage one cold morning on a walk with a good friend. Very cool - a 47 foot Fin Whale! We were there on a rare moment that there weren't 200 people looking at it!

Our First Friday events in November and December were lovely! Thank you to everyone who came out to sip, shop, and chat. Mark your calendars for January’s First Friday—it’ll feature live music by Evie Bear and Dan Bailey, as well as a showcase by artist Amber Stull. Think cozy vibes, refreshments, creative energy, and maybe some surprises!

At the shop, we hosted an info session on winter cycling, sharing tips on staying safe and comfortable while riding through snowy conditions. The turnout and enthusiasm from our community were incredible!

Online, we had the Cottage Gear Giveaway hosted by Garage Grown Gear and Treeline Review, plus the always excellent Women Led Wednesday festivities and accompanying giveaway!

Holiday Markets and In-Store Shopping

This season, we’ve been everywhere—from the Mat-Su Holiday Market in early November, to the Juneau Public Market, and even two back-to-back weekends at the Vintage Market in Palmer! Each event has been a fantastic opportunity to meet new faces and reconnect with longtime supporters. For those who love in-person shopping, our Anchorage store is open seven days a week right now to help you find the perfect gifts. Come see us at Alpine Fit + AK Cycle Chic, located at 908 W Northern Lights Blvd, Anchorage.

Behind-the-Scenes Fun

The holidays aren’t just about work; we’ve also made time to celebrate! Our staff holiday breakfast was a festive gathering full of laughter, good food, and a shared appreciation for what we’ve accomplished this year. Cue Amanda's holiday playlist featuring everything from Mariah to Gwen in the background to set the mood.

What I am wearing every day

To work: Isostatic Merino Wool T-Neck (literally every day, I have more than one, because even though I push their natural odor resistance to the max, I literally want to wear it so often I need one for backup on laundry days like today!). The Go All Winter Merino Wool Hat. I love our Nordic Anywhere Merino Wool Hat too, but since I like a little color and print in my life sometimes, the Go All Winter Merino Wool Hat has the same awesome comfort as the Nordic hat, with the pop of print. Paired with Bushwhacking Leggings or Jeans, and a sweater.
On adventures: Either the Rendezvous Ridge Long Sleeve or Isostatic T-Neck (again) paired with our new Katabatic Merino Wool Base Layer bottoms, the Go All Winter Merino Wool Lined Hat again and a Mountain V Merino Wool Neckwarmer. Then I swap out what jacket or pants I am wearing over them depending on the temp and weather! An insulated puffy and softshell pants for biking, a softshell jacket and nordic ski tights for cross country skiing. Add wool socks, the right gloves and footwear and I'm good for any adventure from November-March!

Looking Ahead

We’re closing out the year with appreciation and excitement for what’s ahead. Product development for F25 and other exciting projects are already in the works. Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for being a part of the Alpine Fit community.
